Last Saturday (25), military police officers attacked a woman in the Lameirão neighborhood, in Guarapari, Espírito Santo. The action was spotted by residents of the region, who posted the video on social networks. The episode generated an immediate reaction from the state governor, Renato Casagrande (PSB).
“Unacceptable. I determined to the General Command of the Military Police the rigorous investigation and immediate measures regarding the facts recorded in Guarapari, last Saturday, which had the videos released today. The conduct in evidence does not represent the values of our police”, said Casagrande, in his personal twitter account.
In the images, military policemen knee and punch the woman, who tries to free herself. Already immobilized and on the ground, she is slapped in the face by one of the agents, while having her arms forced behind her back.
The Military Police was called by workers from the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu), who had difficulties in immobilizing a woman who was facing an outbreak and who would be compulsorily hospitalized.
In a statement, the Military Police of Espírito Santo informed that an inquiry was opened by the corporation’s internal affairs department to investigate the conduct of the police. The Secretariat of Public Security and Personal Defense did not say whether the two men were removed.
