Students have until December 31 to renew their

Students who use the Student Financing Fund (Fies) have until December 31 of this year to renew their biannual contracts, simplified and not simplified, for the 1st and 2nd semesters of 2021.

The deadline for contractual updating in Fies was extended last Friday (5), by the Ministry of Education, due to the covid-19 pandemic. The process must be carried out by the Fies Computerized System (SisFIES), which is available on the Ministry’s website.

In the case of a non-simplified contract, when there are changes to be made to the contract, such as a change of guarantor, the student must take a documentary evidence to finalize the renewal. In simplified terms, it is enough to validate the renewal in the system.

According to the folder, Fies contracts are renewed every six months. The order is made first by educational institutions. Afterwards, the students validate the information entered in SisFies by the universities.

The program

Fies is a MEC program that grants funding to students in non-free higher education courses in private higher education institutions. The fund is a modern student financing model, divided into different modalities, and can grant zero interest to those who need it most. The scale varies depending on the candidate’s household income.
