The first fact-finding hearing in the Henry Borel case takes place on Wednesday (6). However, five witnesses for the prosecution who are considered key players by the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro were not located by the courts. In case of no-show, all will be summoned again.
The five witnesses not found are the doctors at the hospital where the boy arrived dead Maria Cristina Souza Azevedo and Viviane dos Santos Rosa, the hospital executive Pablo dos Santos Meneses, the ex-nanny of Henry Thayná Oliveira and the ex-wife of Jairinho , Ana Carolina Ferreira Neto, who reaffirms the former councilor’s history of violence. The information is from the newspaper Extra.

According to the report, in some of the cases, although the witness was not personally summoned, the court official left messages with family or friends, so the prosecutor in the case, Fábio Vieira, believes they can attend. Another seven witnesses for the prosecution were found and called for next Wednesday’s hearing, including Henry’s father Leniel Borel and investigators in the case.
The former councilor and Henry’s mother, Monique Medeiros da Costa e Silva, have been in jail since April 8th. The Civil Police’s investigations indicate that the councilor attacked the boy with kicks and blows to the head and the mother knew about it.
The medical report indicates that the boy had internal bleeding and liver laceration, caused by a blunt action, and that the child’s body had ecchymosis, bruises, edema and bruises that indicate trauma prior to death.
