Opposition goes to STF with news-crime against Bolsonaro for

The lie told by President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) last Thursday (21) about the vaccine against covid generated a new reaction.

This Monday (25), the PSOL bench in the Chamber and deputy Túlio Gadêlha (PDT-PE) filed a criminal report against the Chief Executive for having associated the immunizing agent with the AIDS virus. The document was presented to the Supreme Court (STF).

In the request, the parliamentarians ask that Bolsonaro be officially denounced for violations of the Penal Code, infraction of preventive sanitary measure and danger to the life or health of others.

The deputies point out that the president’s conduct affronts the principle of morality, the Administrative Impropriety Law and characterizes a crime of responsibility.

The document’s signatories argue that, by spreading lies about the vaccination against covid-19, Bolsonaro calls into question the strategy set out in the National Immunization Plan (PNI), which has led to a reduction in the number of deaths and the spread of the virus between the population.

“The president’s crusade against science and life continues. It is essential that the constituted powers take the appropriate measures to punish those responsible for the attacks on the public health of the Brazilian people”, says the document sent to the STF.

THE fake news de Bolsonaro was propagated during a live led by the president on Thursday (21), when he went so far as to say that people who received two applications of the immunizer in the United Kingdom developed the syndrome.

The conduct generated a wave of reactions and criticisms. On Monday (25), for example, the news emerged that Facebook and Instagram excluded the broadcast link from their platforms to prevent greater access to fake content.

Scientists and civil entities also reacted to the lie. This was the case of the National Movement of Positive Citizens, which brings together people affected by the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.

“Brazilians deserve respect. Who will stop this person who, since taking office as president, has had the mission of encouraging the necropolitics of destruction? We hope that the Court will hold him accountable, as fake news is a crime, especially when it puts the lives of more people at risk”, said the entity, in a statement.

The movement also highlighted that Bolsonaro’s conduct “stimulates misinformation, stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS”.
