The Chamber of External Control of Police Activity and Prison System of the Federal Public Ministry issued a note last Saturday (4) “expressing concern with the demonstrations that are scheduled for the 7th and 12th of September”.
The agency has the function of external control of the activities of the military and civil police throughout the country. The same note states that “any abuses and violations of the democratic order will be rigorously investigated and punished by the control bodies assigned to the exercise of such powers, always obeying the applicable legal framework” (read the note in full below).
A survey produced by the Brazilian Public Security Forum points out that more and more police officers manifest themselves publicly or interact on social networks with content linked to the main banners of President Jair Bolsonaro (no party).
According to the study, the presence of professionals from the security forces in pocket-sized networks in digital increased 27% from 2020 to 2021.

In recent weeks, a possible mutiny in the military police in support of President Jair Bolsonaro’s (non-party) government at the September 7 demonstrations has been sparked by active and retired police officers, by associations that bring together officers working in state military forces. and by deputies from the “bullet bench”.

The External Control Chamber of Police Activity and Prison System of the Federal Public Ministry (7CCR/MPF) expresses, as a coordinating and reviewing body for the external control of police activity within the scope of the Federal Park, its concern with the demonstrations which are scheduled for the 7th and 12th of September, or others that may be scheduled, and reiterate the confidence that the members of the public security bodies listed in article 144 of the Federal Constitution maintain full obedience to the Magna Carta, to the laws and to the democratic regime.
It also affirms the defense of freedom of expression and the conviction that any abuses and violations of the democratic order will be rigorously investigated and punished by the control bodies assigned to the exercise of such powers, always complying with the applicable legal framework.
