In Curitiba, hearing debates new pension reform for

This Friday (17th), the Curitiba City Council is holding a debate on yet another social security reform for municipal employees.

After the “package” of 2017, which generated conflict with the category, now Mayor Rafael Greca (DEM) wants to adapt the Social Security Reform approved at the National Congress by the Bolsonaro government, of which he is an ally, to the municipality. The measure should change the length of retirement, contribution amounts and even charging retirees.

The new measure changes the minimum contribution time for retirement, with 62 years for women and 65 years for men. It also proposes a discount for retired civil servants who currently no longer need to contribute to the Social Security Institute for Civil Servants of the Municipality of Curitiba (IPMC).

“We are willing to go to fight, if necessary to strike, using our union, Sismuc [Sindicato dos Servidores Públicos Municipais Curitiba], to prevent the approval of such an attack on our living conditions, when the pandemic is showing that public services and servers are essential to save lives and assist the population”, points out Coletivo Sismuc Somos Nós, contrary to the proposal.

According to Ludimar Rafanhim, a lawyer and social security specialist, the model “looks like it’s going to copy Ratinho’s reform a little worse.”

The event is an initiative of the parliamentary offices of Pier Petruziello and Marcelo Fachinello. The debate, starting at 2 pm, will be broadcast on the Legislative’s social networks – YouTube, Facebook or Twitter of the City Council of Curitiba.
