Federal District performs “D-Day” of vaccination against the

This Saturday (20), the Government of the Federal District holds the D-Day of vaccination against covid-19. Altogether, there will be 28 points throughout the DF, in places with large movement of people. The initiative aims to take the vaccine to the population over 18 years old who have not yet taken the first dose.

Immunization will be available in places such as fairs, cultural spaces and churches. In addition, the GDF will offer the second dose and the booster dose at several basic health units (UBSs) and at the SIA Imports Fair. Most stations will be open from 9am to 5pm.

On D-Day there will also be the application of a booster dose for seniors over 60 years and health professionals who received the second dose at least six months ago. Severe immunosuppressed patients who took the second dose at least 28 days ago will also be covered. Anyone who has the second dose after the deadline can also attend.

“Many people don’t have time to go to the vaccination point, as they work all day and, at night, end up having some difficulty looking for our points that are open. On D-Day, we want to reach these people, bringing protection against covid-19 to them, whether they are shopping at fairs, passing through the bus station, or for those who work in these places and have not yet been vaccinated,” said the secretary of Health of the DF, Manoel Pafiadache.

According to the folder, about 254,000 people over 12 years of age have not yet taken the first dose and another 300,000 who can already receive the second dose have not yet sought a health facility. The D-Day of vaccination could be another opportunity for these people to take their dose.

booster dose

Mask Flexibility

The governor also stated that he intends to allow the use of masks in closed spaces. The measure could be adopted after the population of the DF takes the booster dose of the vaccine against covid-19.

This is because the Ministry of Health, this week, announced that it would extend the third dose to the entire population over 18 in the country. Currently, the exemption from the use of a mask in the DF is only authorized for open air places.

“We need to increase the level of vaccination and, now, we are very happy with this news from the Ministry of Health that the third dose is going to start for those over 18 years of age. We hope that these doses will arrive so that we can advance with vaccination and release, soon, the use of the mask in closed environments. I’m very confident,” said Ibaneis.
