Edmilson Rodrigues (PSOL), mayor of Belém, returns to office

Mayor Edmilson Rodrigues (PSOL) reassumed the mayor of the city of Belém (PA) this Tuesday (16), after 46 days away due to complications caused by covid-19. Edmilson was infected with the delta variant, which is up to 70% more transmissible when compared to the original strain of the new coronavirus.

The face-to-face return took place this Tuesday (16) and was attended by the deputy mayor of Belém, Edilson Moura (PT), and municipal secretaries.

In your twitter, the mayor thanked the population for their affection. “I’m back. I’m healthy and in a good mood. Once again, thank you very much!”

The mayor’s first act was the signing of an agreement for the recovery of Avenida Rômulo Maiorana (25 September), in the Marco neighborhood. In his return speech, Edmilson thanked the health professionals of the Beneficente Portuguesa and Porto Dias Hospitals, where he was hospitalized.

For now, the mayor’s return will be gradual. Thus, he will work part-time in his office and provide online and telephone assistance. In addition, weekly the mayor will undergo new consultations that will monitor his evolution in post-covid treatment.

Complications caused by covid-19 that affected the mayor of Belém are considered rare. According to doctors, the bleeding that caused the mayor to undergo a laparoscopic procedure was caused by a muscle contracture, which is when the muscle contracts incorrectly and does not return to its normal state of relaxation.
