Director of Technology at Palácio do Planalto tests reach

The Director of Information Technology of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Hélio Sant’Ana, used Twitter to measure the engagement of a publication with the terms “chloroquine” and “ivermectin”.

The test was done in your personal account on the social network last Friday (20). In his profile, he identifies himself as the head of the Palácio do Planalto IT, marking the official account of the Presidency in his description.

The use of medicines was one of the main banners of President Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) during actions to combat the new coronavirus pandemic. None of the drugs have proven efficacy in combating covid-19.

Sant’Ana’s post had more than 300 shares and 4,300 likes. After the repercussion, he made a comment in the post itself: “At least on Twitter we’re not limited yet”.

In the same week as Sant’Ana’s post, a report from GloboNews revealed that the Prevent Senior health plan did not inform their covid-19 patients that they would be taking hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. The research carried out by the operator concealed deaths due to the use of medicines.

On social networks, the Director of Information Technology at Palácio do Planalto has been notable for making fervent comments in favor of Bolsonaro, as well as publications that question the effectiveness of vaccines against covid-19.

Sant’Ana is active in the military, having occupied the position of 1st lieutenant in the Brazilian Army from 2009 to 2013. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was allocated in the Information Technology area and served as head of Security and Network Monitoring and IT coordinator .

In the curriculum available on the federal government’s website, the function described in the same period is more modest. In the document, he claims to have been deputy chief of the Information Technology Advisory Board at the Armed Forces Hospital.

At the beginning of the Bolsonaro government, he took up a commissioned position in the Presidency of the Republic. The military occupied different positions in the Civil House until, in March 2021, he assumed the Information Technology Directorate of the General Secretariat of the Presidency.

Sant’Ana is on the list of authorities that must have their official agenda publicized. The section with his appointments even exists on the Presidency’s website, but it has not been filled in since he took over as director.
