City of Rio has 84% ​​of the population over 12 years old

The municipality of Rio de Janeiro has 83.9% of the population over 12 years of age vaccinated against covid-19. The level is already similar to that of immunization against the flu. Data are from the Rio Covid-19 Panel.

to the newspaper The day, Chrystina Barros, researcher in Health and member of the Committee to Combat Covid at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), highlighted that the good performance of Rio in the vaccination campaign against the virus is the result of a population “which is already used to with vaccination campaigns”.

“In addition, we also have a network with capillarity, that is, it is well distributed and can reach all areas of the city. People joined because of the history of previous vaccination campaigns, through the National Immunization Program (PNI), and because of the way with which covid presented itself, in terms of severity,” he told the report.

On social networks, the municipal health secretary, Daniel Soranz, informed that this week the capital of Rio de Janeiro had the lowest rate of positivity for covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
