Brazil reached today (18) the mark of 590 thousand lives lost to Covid-19. In the last 24 hours, 935 deaths and 150,106 new cases of covid-19 were registered, according to the National Council of Health Secretaries (CONASS). The data, however, includes the records of the last 48 hours in the State of São Paulo, as well as numbers from Rio de Janeiro that went through “an incorporation of old records”, according to the health authorities.
As a result, Brazil has 21,230,325 confirmed cases of infection by the Sars-CoV-2 virus and 590,508 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. These numbers make Brazil the second country with the most deaths by covid-19, behind only the United States, which registers 673,405 deaths.
The evolution rate of covid-19 cases in Brazil presents a decrease of 30.75%, informs Portal Geocovid.
According to data available on the Our World in Data platform, a tool from the University of Oxford and updated daily, 36.48% of the Brazilian population is fully vaccinated against covid-19, with two doses or with a single dose of the immunizing agent.
Covid-19 has already killed 4,683,818 worldwide and infected more than 42 million people, according to data from the Johns Hopkins University.
