Truck driver Marcos Antonio Pereira Gomes, known as Zé Trovão, performed last Tuesday (26) at the Federal Police Station, in Joinville (SC), where he lives, after spending almost two months on the run. The information was confirmed by the Federal Police in Brasília.
After having his arrest decreed, the activist fled to Mexico, where he recorded videos and posted on the internet claiming to be a political refugee, persecuted by the Minister of the Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes.

In recent days, according to police authorities, he would have flown from Mexico City to Lima, Peru. From there, he would have followed overland to Paraguay, and returned to Brazil through the border at Foz do Iguaçu, where he managed to pass unharmed through the checkpoints at Ponte da Amizade. The fugitive finally went to Joinville, where he met family members before turning himself in to court.
“On Tuesday (26), in Joinville (SC), the Federal Police complied with a preventive arrest warrant issued by the Supreme Court in the records of Inquiry 4879, which investigates undemocratic acts,” the corporation said in a statement.

The arrest warrant was issued on September 1 of this year, by the STF minister Alexandre de Moraes. According to the PF, the truck leader presented himself in the early afternoon at the Federal Police Station in Joinville and will remain at the disposal of the Court.
Zé Trovão was taken to the state prison in the city of Joinville.
Before the arrest warrant was issued, Zé Trovão fled to Mexico and had been located by the Federal Police, hiding in that country.
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), ordered the arrest of the truck driver in the investigation that investigates threats to democracy and incitement to violence in acts that were being organized for the September 7 holiday.

According to the minister, the investigations carried out by the PF show the “presence of strong evidence and significant evidence pointing to the existence of a true criminal organization, with a strong digital presence and with production, publication, financing and political centers absolutely similar to those identified with the clear purpose of undermining democracy and the rule of law”.
The case began to be investigated in April of last year after protesters raised banners calling for military intervention, the closure of the Supreme Court and Congress during acts carried out in Brasília and other cities in the country.
