Assault against black passenger: Alesp commission

State deputy Emídio de Souza (PT), president of the Commission for the Defense of Human Rights, of the São Paulo Legislative Assembly (Alesp), filed a document, this Thursday (21), demanding that the president of Metrô- SP, Silvani Alves Pereira, explain the “exaggeration of the approach” of a black man at the Anhagabaú station, on the Red line, in front of his son, a baby.

The approach took place last Wednesday (20) and the images went viral on social networks. In the document, Souza lamented the episode. “I want to express my shock at the images that show two Metrô security guards brutally accosting a passenger in front of his son, a child who appears not to be a year old, in one of the capital’s stations.”

Souza also requests that the state-owned company inform the outsourced company responsible for training security guards and the “format of training required by the Metrô for the security guards who work at its stations”.

In addition, the deputy asks that an internal inquiry be opened to investigate the episode of violence. Finally, Souza asks for the immediate removal of the security guards responsible for approaching the passenger.
